Windows 10 Support Ending – October 14, 2025
Microsoft released the Windows 10 operating system in 2015, and today, it is estimated that over 60% of Windows users still rely on it. However, support for Windows 10 will officially end on October 14, 2025.
What does this mean for current users?
Right now, Microsoft regularly provides feature updates, bug fixes, and security patches, but these updates will stop after the October deadline. While there are still several months before support ends, Windows 10 users should start considering their next steps.
Below are the options for those currently using Windows 10:
Option 1: Do Nothing
Despite support ending on 14th October 2025, Windows 10 will not just stop working on that day. However, it will stop receiving all feature and security updates leaving you particularly vulnerable if you use your computer online. We do not recommend this option and would suggest looking into one of the other options available!
Option 2: Update Your Current PC To Windows 11
If your computer meets the Windows 11 hardware requirements, you should be able to upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11 for free via Windows Update in Settings. This is a definite recommendation providing your computer meets the specs required. If you are unsure if your PC is eligible, come in and see us or give us a call on 01392 453400.

Option 3: Upgrade To A New PC
If your current computer does not meet the required specifications for Windows 11 (as a guide, most pre-2018 computers do not), you will need to look into upgrading to a new computer. ISCAdigital offers refurbished computers, all of which are on Windows 11. We offer full data transfer from your current computer within the price of any refurbished computer we sell, meaning you will leave with an upgraded unit that’s ready to use immediately!

Option 4: Pay To Extend Support
Microsoft say they will offer Extended Security Updates (ESU), that will allow you to pay to extend the length of time your Windows 10 computer will receive updates. The ESU could cost around £200+ for a three year plan. This is quite a substantial cost, and the money would almost certainly be better spent on upgrading your current hardware, rather than keeping an old computer going.
If you are currently using Windows 10 and you’re unsure which option is right for you, or you want to discuss any of the information above in more detail, please give us a call on 01392 453400 or pop in and see us at our shop on Topsham Road. We will be happy to help you decide which option suits you best.
